Obituary
Stacy Marie Cunningham, age 49, departed this life January 19, 2024 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital. She was born December 16, 1974, in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of Susan and Gary Rothe.
Stacy grew up Catholic and attended St. Ambrose until eighth grade. Stacy went to South Western High School. She went on to attend nursing school and graduated in 1997. Stacy dedicated over 20 years of her life as an LPN nurse. She has worked at Memorial Hospital, Springfield Clinic and many nursing homes in Springfield and surrounding areas.
Stacy was very family oriented and had a heart of gold. Stacy was a wonderful mother and grandmother she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Stacy made anyone feel like family and she would brighten any room she walked in, anyone blessed with her presence is forever marked by her great sense humor and loving demeanor. Stacy was a wonderful cook and enjoyed expressing her love through food. Stacy loved sports and her favorite hockey team St. Louis Blues. She brought joy to so many lives and will truly be missed.
She is preceded by grandparents, Charles (Delores)Rothe and Reilly (Camille)Ashlock, Sr.; and an uncle, Reilly Phillip Ashlock, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Demetrice Cunningham; son, Jordan Cunningham; daughter, Cierra Cunningham; father, Gary Rothe; mother, Susan Rothe; brother, Ryan (Andrea)Rothe; sister, Katherine (Dezman)Butler; grandchildren, Marley Lanier, Antoine Lanier, Jr., and Ahsaad Lanier; nephews, Micah, Myles, and Luka; niece, Sofia; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, other family members and friends.
