Obituary
Susan M. Voss, (affectionately known as “Sister” or “Susie Q”) was called home to be with her Lord on the morning of September 20, 2023, at Aperion Care Capitol. Susan was born on March 6, 1948, to Evelyn McLeod and the late David McLeod.
She was a faithful member of Second Timothy Baptist Church In Springfield, Illinois, where she served as the Financial Treasurer, Usher, and Board Member over her many years of dedication.
Susan worked for the Bell System (now known as AT&T) for over 40 years and was also a loyal employee at Bergner’s Department Store in White Oaks Mall for over 15 years. Following in the footsteps of her Christian upbringing, Susan was a dedicated member and board member of Second Timothy Baptist Church in Springfield, IL.
In her down time, Susan enjoyed kickin’ back at home with a cold Pepsi, watching old westerns, and giving her own advice/opinions out-loud, whether you asked or not, be it subtle or not. Due to her own learned life lessons, Susan also began advocating for others to quit smoking.
Susan was preceded in death by her father, David McLeod; brother, Francis McLeod; sister, Genell Wheatley; and her ex-husband, Jimmie Voss.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her mother, Evelyn McLeod of Rembert, SC; her only daughter, Nikki R.(Jamie) Voss of Springfield, IL; three sisters, Jessie Hunter, Lula Maye McLeod, and Delores Mickens all of Rembert, SC; two brothers, Melvin(Lisa) McLeod and John McLeod (Janet), both of Rembert, SC; a very special niece, Jacinta Alston (Delvin), of Sumter, SC; and a host of other relatives, cousins, nephews, nieces & friends.
