Obituary

Tameka Shanell Fane departed this life on Friday, April 21, 2023, at St. John’s Hospital with family and friends at her side. Tameka was born February 10, 1978, in Springfield, IL, to the union of Ira Joe “Bo” and Rose Diane Fane. Tameka was educated in the Springfield public schools. Though she had no children, she raised her nephew, Censear Hope, and godson, Artaivion “Tay” Suttle, as her own. She was self-employed and shared her love of beautiful nails with all she served.

Tameka gave her life to Christ at an early age. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she found joy in worshipping virtually with New Zion Community Church, located in Indianapolis, IN, under the leadership of Pastor Robert Harvey.

Tameka was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lawrence Fane and Ira Joe Fitzgerald; numerous aunts and uncles; nephew, Carlos “Manor” Blue; nieces, Darnesha Jones and LaDreama Fortune; and cousin/brother, Robert “Scootie” Jones, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her brothers, Darrell Fane, Jacob (Shayla) Whitfield, Lonnell (Melissa) Brown, Sr., and Aaron Suttle, all of Springfield, Ira Cartell (Laura) Hickman of Kansas City, MO, Anthony Fane and Michael Tate of St. Louis, MO, Corey Fane of Decatur, IL, and Edward “Monte” Shelby of Alton, IL; sisters, Ilisa Fitzgerald and Detha Walker of Springfield, IL, Lisa Michelle Jones of Alton, IL, Margie Fane of St. Louis, MO, and Denae Fane of Decatur, IL; uncles, Lee Robinson, Jr., of St Louis, MO, Harmon (Louise) Fane of Springfield, IL, Larry Fane of Alton, IL, and Grover Fane and John Henry of Hayti, MO; aunts, Darlene Fane of Hayti, MO, and Climisteen Martindale of Cape Girardeau, MO; godchildren, Aarvon and Aranyaka Suttle, ShaDiamond and DaTron Green, and Michael Mackey; she also had over 25 nieces and nephews and a multitude of cousins and friends who love and cherish her memories.

Tameka was loved by all who knew her and provided many precious memories for all she met. Special friends surviving include, LaQuenta O’Neal, Trebor King, Eric Madison, Marie Clemons, Louvina Williams, and Jeanette Goza.
