Wesby Marion was born on July 3, 1960, in Aurora, IL, to the union of Frank Jr. and Zenabia Marion.

 

Wesby accepted Jesus at an early age. He was a faithful member of the Chulahoma M.B. Church in Holly Springs, MS. Upon relocating to Springfield, IL, he united with Union Baptist Church, where he served as the Men’s Sunday School teacher, Usher, and Layman, remaining dedicated until his health began to decline.

 

Wesby was educated in the Lockport School System and graduated from Lockport High School in 1978, where he was a cross-country runner. After high school, he joined the Navy, served for four years, and received an honorable discharge.

 

After his service in the Navy, Wesby continued his education at Lewis University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Service.

 

Wesby worked in the Marshall County School System and held seasonal employment at the IRS for several years.

 

Wesby was devoted to his son, family, and friends. He loved cooking, socializing, laughing, and teasing with his brothers and sisters.

 

Wesby was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Jr. and Zenabia Marion; paternal grandparents, Frank Marion Sr. and Mae Dora Marion; maternal grandparents, Mamon and Hattie Elliott; sister, Mary Mister (Tommy); niece, Theresa Broadway; and nephew, Grover Deshaun Barefield.

 

Wesby leaves to cherish his memories:His son, Myles Alexander (Sarah) of Springfield, IL; Sisters: Rosemary Brown and April Marion (Gerald);Brothers: Grover Marion, James Marion, all of Holly Springs, MS; Terry Marion (Joy) of Markham, IL; Erich Marion; and Danny Marion (Sheilah) of Aurora, IL; A special friend, Cecelia Ursin of Springfield, IL; Three grandchildren: Gianna, Abraham, and Hezekiah Alexander; Eight nieces and ten nephews; Several great-nieces and nephews; Friends Barbara Pryor and family, Amber St. Clair, Annise Francis, and Issaac Francis Jr.
